Conduct disorder are a set of some behavioural and emotional struggle that generally starts at childhood or teenage years. Children and teenagers with this problem have trouble following guidelines that are socially acceptable.

They may display violent, negative, and untrustworthy behaviours thus infringing the rights of others.Adults and other children may perceive them as “bad” or delinquent, rather than as having a mental illness.

Types of Conduct Disorder

We can categorise conduct disorder under three types.

  • Childhood – when the condition appears prior to 10 years of age
  • Adolescent – This condition appears during teenage years.
  • Random – This condition means that the onset of the disorder is not known

Symptoms of Conduct Disorder

One thing significant in children having conduct disorder is that they find hard to follow the guidelines and set of rules for a social living that our society has set. They react violently if they are bound to follow the rules. One can diagnose this if your child falls in either of the categories mentioned below.

  • Aggressive conduct

  • Destructive behaviour

Aggressive Conduct Disorder
Aggressive conduct disorder may include:

  • Menacing or bullying others children
  • Physically hurting people or animals
  • Committing rape and abusing others
  • Using a weapon

Deceitful behaviour conduct disorder may include:

  • Lying and untruthfulness
  • Violation and entering or trespassing
  • Stealing or theft
  • Forgery or counterfeiting

Destructive Behaviour conduct disorder

Destructive behaviour conduct disorder may consist of combustible and other deliberate destruction or harming of property.

Violation of Rules

Violation of rules may comprise of following:

  • Skipping school regularly
  • Running away from home teasing parents
  • Drug and alcohol abuse
  • Sexual behaviour early age

Girls are more liable to deceitful and rule-violating behaviour in contrast to boys who are more prone to exhibit aggressive and destructive behaviour.
